Reasons Your Patients Don’t Show up

Over the years, we’ve boiled it down to these top reasons why a patient no-shows:

  1. Forgot about the appointment
    2. for many patients, fear and dread of the doctor visit result in avoiding, delaying, or cancelling appointments altogether.
    3. when patients are strained financially, cancelling an appointment last-minute might look like the only option.
    4. Offering early morning, evening, and weekend appointments, your practice can offset the cancellations you receive from harried patients who, despite best intentions, can’t feasibly get there during the workday.
    5. Doesn’t care/no longer urgent (don’t appreciate the need for services or their medical condition)

While we don’t expect to eliminate all no-shows, ever, we can reduce no-shows for many of these reasons.

look for ways to ensure that as many patients as possible arrive, as scheduled, to complete their appointments

Partially there exists a gap between the patient and the hospitals.we engineer solutions to bridge this gap by providing personalized services to our clients. The services include ,but are not limited to personalized messages to patients phone calls and reminders.Even when a clinic staff member calls patients in advance, my no-show rate still hovers from 10 to 20 percent. If the visits are for checkups, I do not routinely call the patients, but if there are urgent matters to be discussed, I do. Some of my patients have received delayed care because of missed visits, although thankfully there have been no serious outcomes (that I know of). But the chance is always there.
